Day 7 Rest Day Saturday

Saturday 7 Jan 2012 - This weekend I am minding my brother's house & animals while he and his family are camping on Moreton Island. Hopefully the bushfire that started there earlier this week is under control now so they will be safe, as well as being able to breathe fresh air! Bit of a contrast to the floods from last year. I on the other hand, have not done much at all today - just a rest day.

Camping - not for me. Ever. Nothing about it appeals to me. And yet, I know many people who love it. Takes all kinds, right?

My "theme song" for this year is Feeling Good (the Muse version). Very New Year-y, I think. "It's a new dawn, it's a new day, it's a new life for me, and I'm feeeeeeling gooooood..."

I've been listening to a lot of Foo Fighters lately. In December, the day before they played at Metricon Stadium on the Gold Coast, I won 4 free tickets from Triple M to see them. Getting through was one feat, and winning, an even bigger one for me. Great show, even better being free! Anyway, I take great pleasure in playing their Greatest Hits CD and singing along loudly in my car. My favourites at the moment are Best of You and The Pretender, also their newest song, These Days.

Tim Freedman has a fantastic new song, a cover of an '80s song by Billy Fields, called "You Weren't In Love With Me". I love it so much, I made it my mobile ring tone. Even though the lyrics are not overly cheery, the new version is very upbeat and catchy, and it makes me smile and dance every time I hear it - well, maybe I don't actually dance. Not every time anyway.

A big crowd pleaser at my work is The Black Keys' Lonely Boy. We love the song and especially the film clip. Check this out - I reckon it's the song of this summer, and the dancing guy is fantastic.
