Day 12 Thinking Healthy Thursday

Thursday 12 Jan 2012 - Today at the doctor's, I got some blood test results and it seems all is well, except I need to :
  • lower my cholesterol levels - meaning, less red meat, cheese, full dairy, chocolate and fatty foods
  • lower the urea my kidneys produce - drink more water
  • increase iron levels - leafy green veges and an iron supplement
  • lose weight - that old chestnut
I really like my doctor. He is like a kindly uncle. Very thorough and reassuring, and he never dismisses or rolls his eyes at my hypochondria - that I know of... Next up, my dentist appointment, then my skin cancer check, then as a little reward - my lovely hairdresser. And I may try to get a pedicure before the end of January. That will take care of the New Year health & beauty upkeep.

Back at work, the third afternoon tea this week (quite a few birthdays this time of year) tested my new health resolve. No cheese & crackers, no chips, no lollies for me. Boo. Hard to say no really. But I did, and was very pleased with my will power - for one day anyway! Tomorrow is a new day.
